Keane making more changes

Keane EyesAfter Roy Keane’s comments yesterday about players “not being good enough” we are now finding who those players are.  According to the EADT, Owen Garvan, Jon Stead and Alan Quinn have been told they aren’t in Keane’s plans and their agents are already looking for new teams.

According to Keane, “[The decision]  is not based on last Saturday but the end of last season, pre-season games. You can’t keep waiting and you have to say enough is enough.

“There are players who have had enough chances. They are not doing the business. It doesn’t mean they are not good players or not good characters, it just means they are not doing the business for me at the moment and that means we have to take action.

“That is professional sport – if you are not doing the business you suffer for it just like managers and supporters do in their own way.

“It is not personal. It is just time to move on. You can’t keep doing the same thing every week and not get a result.”

Another player thought to possibly be on his list was club captain, Gareth McAuley who spent Saturday on the bench.

“Gareth has every chance to be involved at Peterborough (for tonight’s Carling Cup tie).

“Gareth has been fine. He is a good lad, a good professional. He was on the bench on Saturday and probably felt he was unlucky.

“There has been no bust-up with Gareth. He is a good bloke and I have a lot of time for Gareth.”

Bust-up? What’s going on in the dressing room? This sure isn’t Jim Magilton’s club any more.

But at the end of the day, where are we Roy?

“As bad as results have been I still think we are only two or three players away from being a good team and getting back in the mix.”

Ok,  but Ipswich doesn’t have a massive squad, will the players you don’t want going to face Posh tonight?

“They could be in squad. Beggars can’t be choosers.”

Wow, that gives me a lot of confidence.

So, there we have it.  Keane arrived in Suffolk prior to the end of last season and won a couple of matches.  He’s had the entire Summer to rework the squad…the pre-season to get them in shape and now he’s wanting to make some more changes.

At least we have Richard Wright in goal.
