Tractor Roy does some squad pruning

campoThe Summer hasn’t even started yet (FA Cup isn’t for another fortnight) but Roy Keane isn’t wasting any time putting his squad together for next season.  Though, he’s starting with contraction before expanding.  Say goodbye to seven squad members.

  • Ivan Campo – The club could have excercised an option in his contract…but didn’t.
  • Tommy Miller - Heading to Sheffield Wednesday?
  • Billy Clarke – Back to Brentford?  Surprised by this one.
  • Dean Bowditch – I once rated him highly,
  • Jai Reason – Going to Wembley and being released within days.
  • Chris Casement – Well, he’s still got his career with the Northern Irish Under 21 squad.
  • Kurt Robson – He’s been at Rushden & Diamonds.

In the past I would have been surprised by some of these leaving…and how many all at once.  However, with Evans’ money and Keane’s…errrr….well, I guess we should be getting used to a new way of doing things.  I’m actually looking forword to seeing what’s next.

Oh, I should mention that Alex Bruce, Shane Supple and Ed Upson are in new contract talks.

There’s still several players who haven’t talked with Keane about their future yet.  More changes to come.  Can’t wait for the transfer window to open.

For those who’ve been cut, word is there’s a League 1 club just up the road in need of some squad improvement.
